As kids, we’re all taught to have these social constructs dreamed.
Letting dresses confine you,
All while dreaming of having it in a size two.
Femininity asks for passivity.
Which limits one’s opportunities due to lack of activity.
Sexuality is expected to follow a heterosexual path,
Unless one wants to find their way through everyone’s wrath.
Questions about our social progress must be asked.
Because they’ve been hidden for too long; centuries masked.
These gender roles, these ideals, these historical models.
Have shown just how long we’ve simply dawdled
