Far Enough
the sun
is shining,
and
my favorite song
is playing.
"Lily!"
screams echo in my head.
Lily, Lily, Lily
My feet are glued
to the pavement
but I lift
them anyway.
Suddenly,
everything breaks
my head, my skull is splitting.
my world is spinning
black car
black tires
everything is black
but all I can think
is Lily-
where is she,
is she here,
lying on the street
with me?
I think of her,
hope I pushed her
hard enough
far enough.
I hope I saved her.
