I Am Glass
Here I am, can you see me?
No, you see right through me.
I am in front of you, around you
But you choose not to see me.
I try to catch your attention but
You don’t see me for what I am,
For what I could be.
And every time you look through me
I break a little more
Until the fissures in me
Become so overwhelming
That I can take no more pressure
No more hurt
No more rejection
No more tears
And I will shatter
Into a million tiny, shining, glittering pieces
At your feet
Because I Am Glass.
