One Day
When I look at you
I can’t help but stare
Awestruck by your beauty
You scrutinize yourself
Cry over and over
About your weight,
Your looks,
Everything about you
And I look at you, perplexed
Wondering how someone that amazing
Could make herself feel that bad
Your brown eyes,
Although you hate the color
Make me feel like the sun is shining upon my soul
Your laugh,
Although you always hide it
Makes me feel like I should learn to be funnier
Your body,
Although you agonize in the mirror over it
Looks just perfect in my eyes
I remind you of this
Day after day after day
You smile, but your eyes are distant
Wandering back to the mirror
Wandering back to the hatred you feel
When you look at your reflection
But, one day I know
Your eyes will come back to me
Your bright laughter will return
And you will see yourself
The way I see you
