Where I'm From
I am from
Clouds,
The gigantic fluffy ones,
Unicorns, a T-rex
That went with the tide and preformed shows for me to spend hours watching
Consuming my mind with a bad case of dementia
I am from
Trees,
The submissive ones in the middle of the cul de sac,
Their branches, exhausted from homemade grappling hooks and pocket knives
A never-ending ladder, The finest hideaway
Where, if I got high enough, the planes were kites I directed with an invisible string
I am from
Stars,
The sequins on my headband,
Or the glitter, like a quilt on Lake Geneva on a calm day
The big dipper, with a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream
And the moon, my best friend, who followed me wherever I went
I am from
The Rainbow,
The melted crayons on the rental car seat,
or “The usual” Kitty cocktail with extra cherries
An unkempt Watercolor pallet and dibs on the left yellow swing
Manipulated my emotions and splatter painted minds of blank canvases
I am from
The Sun,
The Scribbled yearbook signatures and unfinished bucket-lists,
Catching frogs over playing dress-up... a mask of freckles
Lemonade stands, and sandals that were once white
A thief of frowns, Set heaps of dopamine free into my brain
I am from
The wind,
Untied laces and blood, full of adrenaline
Ding Dong Ditching, and races to the stop sign
gasps for breath, a thumping heart
I swear it was the speed of light, the colors a hurricane beside me
I am from
Water,
The Bipolar kind,
Immense eyes of blue satin, and cheeks of the Mississippi
Gentle knocks on my window, a bit of anesthesia
drowned the monsters and fought the dragons fire
I am from
Love,
That cliche word,
Put your helmet on, Where’s your seat belt
Had a force field, but goodbyes were still as if they were the last
Tucked me in at night…. I was invincible
One Courious, Independent and crazy kid. Inspired by my childhood self, who is not much different than who I am today.
