Safety was the question
His arms were the answer
Holding her close
Hugging her tight
As if he had the strength
To put the pieces in place
That had been shattered
With every hit and run
And with every shard
He promised to love
The girl who had lost
Everything she never had
And he held her
Until the sun
Faded into night
And her tears
Gave into sleep
