What Do You Wanna Be?
It’s like I’m in preschool again,
Where the most common question pestered to us is
“What do you wanna be when you grow up?”
Astronut, Olympic Gold Medalist, Broadway star

Political Scientist, Accountant, Divorce Lawyer
It’s not about the dreams,
it’s about the amount of zeros on the check.
It’s not about the personality,
it’s about the score.
As if a shark, a bird, and an ant
are all the same.
As if they can all swim, fly, and hide
as well as the other.
How is it fair
to hold everyone to the same expectation?
Soon, all 5 year olds will answer with jobs
that take up more space to write
then the line offered.
Because everyone under the top half of the top one percent
are looked at like scum
for not being good enough,
except no one knows whose standards
everyone is living up to.
I wish I could answer with a true passion,
rather then what will allow me
to sleep debt- free at night.
If it wasn’t sugar coated before,
we wouldn’t be surviving crushed dreams.
