its just a game they said
It's just a game they said,
Unknowing of the riddles and spells that it brings.
Finding any remedy to escape your thoughts inside.
Pot. Pills. Alcohol. Cigarettes.
You've tried them all.
You cut. It stings. It bleeds.
But yet you still have a smile on your face.
Even with ...all the scars on your wrist.
Its just a game they said,
Unknowing of how it lingers with you everywhere.
Alone at night, is when it gets to its worst.
You wonder how much more can you hide Can you pretend ?
The longer time goes the more you worsen,
You keep going on telling yourself..
"Just keep smiling."
You were just that girl in the hall.
The girl that always had a smile.
They don't even realize you are gone.
Your depression begins to creep again.
Oh , no. It's all just a game they said.
So unknowing that they are a major cause.
They will never understand.
Understand the difficulties,
Everyday different things ..
You don't want to eat.
You cannot sleep.
Just look in the mirror.
Tell me what you see.
"I see that what I'm looking at is killing me.."
Tears emerge and stream gently down your face.
You hate yourself.
Your weight.
Oh my god it needs to be gone.
Shrink. Get Skinner. Loose weight.
Your scars. Fading and healing but more always show .
Almost as if you need those marks of destruction.
Your mind is an evil place.
Haunted with horrible thoughts
Terrible memories and evil ideas.
But yet your still smiling
Your smile hides so much of what you feel inside.
..you are disastrous.
So far bent it's shocking it is not broke.
Your depression is a constant battle you must face.
It's not just a game even though they say.
Instead it's a war.

This piece has been personally my favorite out of all I have written. It has a lot about what I used to really struggle with. I have gotten a lot better , but I still do struggle with depression .
