The Moon
I had always wondered, when I was a child,
why we only saw the moon at night.
But really,
It was always there
watching over us through our windows
and while we played out in the backyard
and during our bad times
and our good times.
I just couldn't see it,
and I wondered why.
Now,
I know why we can't see the moon during the day.
(Not all the time, anyhow.
There's a scientific explanation somewhere
that I don't really bother to learn.)
But I see the moon at night
and I know it's there during the day
and I think it's horribly unfair
that it watches over us
and it has nothing
watching over
it.
