The Lion

The lion within me
scratches,
naws,
and growls
eating,
burning,
and breaking my insides
I am the mouse
begging and searching
for the slightest bit
of nutrients
But always being threatened to be eaten myself
The lion is never satisfied
always growling,
always burning,
always aching
Nothing is good enough
to tame the wrath
of the lion
who stalks
neverending
only temporarily distracted
Only then, am I free
