Letting Go
I said I’m giving up,
But I realized,
That is not what this is.
Giving up is,
Deciding not to do the dishes,
Because you’re too tired,
And you’re going to be late for work.
This is not giving up.
This is looking at a dead flower,
And deciding to throw it out,
Rather than waste water,
On its withered leaves.
This is,
Giving away,
A book I used to love,
But forgot about,
With a new ones coming.
This is letting go of what used to be,
And accepting what is now,
And nobody ever said,
Change is easy,
But now I’m cashing out,
So I can get my hundred bucks,
And leave.
This is me saying goodbye to the past,
And removing it from the pocket of my boot cut jeans,
So it can’t stay with me anymore.
This is me
Letting go.
