"Old Habits Die Hard"
Just take another pill
another drag
another drink
Sure
It's fun in the moment
then you realize
you realize you could be turning
turning into one of them
just another teenage junkie
What happened to that little girl
who was always smiling
was she ever there
or did it take
a death
druggie sister
a mother who was never stable
and a few connections
to get her here
looking back
i notice
those empty eyes
silent screams
nobody
including the little girl
noticed
now
that once little girl notices
people are starting to catch on
they don't know the half of it
maybe the cutting
maybe the eating
possibly the drugs
they'd never understand
it's too late anyway
old habits die hard

This is a very old piece from when I was in a bad place.
