One Snowy Night
It is the only thing darkening the night. I am the only one appreciating it. One snowy sky with freeze burn and hot coffee. One that’s never wanted but always comes. One snowy night, thanks to dropping temperatures. From the fireplace, we feel the warmth, but from the outdoors I feel nothing but sorrow.
Its power is overwhelming. It paints white onto the earth’s floor. It builds up and then it comes down and drops upon the earth like meteors flying in without direction. This is just its journey.
Let one forget the heat of summer, the snowy night would create a new scene, one unique to the rest. Snow, snow, snow it’s all dreaded. We wait.
When I see no sight of spring, when I know mother nature has no plan of change, then it is I who enjoys the snow. When there is no grass left in the yards. One night dropped snow despite summer love. One night that snows and never stops snowing. One night that leaves us anticipated for spring.
