Where I'm From
I am from a mother who cares for nothing
Except the drugs she intoxicated herself with.
From learning that I had to rely on myself
Because I'm the only one there for me. I am from being abused and locked in closets
By the woman who was at one time my step mother.
I am from watching my father divorce and remarry
From the words thrown between my sister and step mom.
I am from watching my sister struggle from watching her hurt herself, starve herself.
I am from the deep depression of understanding my past
From learning to hurt myself.
I am from sleepless nights, lying awake crying.
From losing my best friend to suicide
And surviving suicide myself.
I am from lost love, survival, and never giving up
From being the best I can be today.
I am from a shattered world
That I am slowly putting back together.
