The Mousetrap

The customer,
small whiskers, around
the corner, searching for danger.
A pleasant fragrance
tickles the senses.
The prize,
spreading sensational smells,
perched so peacefully
in plain sight.
The trap,
a metal spring
appears still,
hiding enormous
tension.
The victim, approaches
cautiously
for an easy
meal, and reaches
for the reward.
The snap!
Such innocence,
crushed by cold
steel.
The diner,
robbed of his dinner.
