Insomnia
Laying in bed
thinking
every mistake, everything I’ve done wrong
haunts me
in the latest, darkest hours of the night
Laying in bed
crying
with bloodshot eyes, sitting with my silent screams
but I’m home
in the darkness, with alarm clock lights
Sitting on my bed
staring
at the wall, the ceiling, and whatever else
my mind is awake
in the darkest, latest hours of the night
Sitting on my bed
hoping
someone come and rescue me, take me from this pain
I am still tired
in the darkest, latest hours in the night
Watching the clock
counting
calculating how much sleep I can manage
if I can
at the peak of the night
Watching the clock
praying
that maybe I can fall asleep
hours go by
in the darkest, latest hours of the night
Creativity is flowing
drawing
what lurks in my mind
at this late hour
in the darkest, latest hours of the night
Creativity is flowing
writing
what I feel
almost asleep now
at the brightening hour of the night
Finally I’m sleeping
finally
tossing and turning
for a few minutes
It’s now getting lighter out
Finally I’m sleeping
finally
just as I fall asleep
the alarm goes off
Reality hits, like a brick to the face.
