"Write what people don't wanna hear, it will start a ruckus and people will talk and listen to it, that's what people in this world need to do, talk and listen,"

The wind flowing through his slick black hair
The small annoying curl that hangs there
The red cape flowing behind him as he flies down the traffic consumed streets
Stopping the criminals in his path
Fighting-fighting-fighting
Superman was fighting, down the traffic consumed streets

Not all Superman's wear a cape and have a curl
They fight their own battles every day
Depression
Anxiety

Those who survive are the real heroes
They are the true heroes of the story
We are treated like zeroes-zeroes
Zeroes

But with every zero there is a hero inside of them
A passion for fighting the good fight
A passion for beating the odds and to write our own happily ever after
A passion for finally write the pretty ending

With that responsibility, we must remember those who did not have to chance to write the pretty ending
We must have hope for those who struggle to fight
The struggle
The struggle

In order to live the happy ending, we have to be the Superman
We have to fight the criminals
The headaches
The heartaches
The panic attacks
The pain-pain
The long lasting pain

And as it was written before, not all Supermen wear a cape and have an annoying curl
The real Supermen are the brave men and women fighting to stop the stigma
To stop the headaches
To stop the heartaches
To stop the panic attacks
To stop the long lasting pain

The real heroes came flying, from the dark and into the light

The author's comments:

I was inspired to do this in honor of the poem The Highwayman. Also, I took my own personal experience with depression and anxiety in order to add the Superman concept. This s about how not all Superman have to save the day but conquer their own demons.

thank you so much! I believe that writing this was harder than agreeing with my teacher to post this. Have a blessed Easter!

"Whoever has ears, let them hear." Matthew 13:9

It was really brave of you to write a poem that deals with your personal experiences with these struggles, and publish it as well. Such an inspiring and powerfurful poem!
