I'm Not Mad
I watch as you storm out of my room;
You are a child throwing a temper-tantrum,
Except you’re 25.
I’ll admit that I was in the wrong,
But I will not admit that it is okay for you
To blow words of hatred in my direction.
“Why do you hate me?”
I refuse to answer your question because
We both know
I do not hate you.
I have no room to hate anyone,
Besides myself
After you give me reason.
“Piece of S***” is among
Your most common choice of
Nicknames to call me.
It is usually followed by numerous criticisms;
I want to tell you that nobody is perfect.
That even you, make mistakes–
The same mistakes.
For a long time I believed what you had said.
I began to see myself as the words
You had portrayed me to be; I let myself believe that
I was worthless.
Time has made no difference
For you,
But for me it has.
I have built an immunity;
The words falling from your mouth
Can no longer affect
The way I see myself.
I’m not mad.
You have only made me stronger.
