Vampire
I am a vampire.
You are the sun.
My mortal enemy,
Yet so enticing,
So inviting,
Tilting your head in front of my lips
And daring me to take a bite.
My fingers blister on your skin,
My eyes reject the brightness,
The crispness of you is too much for my tongue,
But I am eager to taste,
To sample,
Hesitantly reaching for your hand
And asking for an adventure.
I might be the world's first tan vampire,
And you, the first star to take time on a spot of shadow,
An area of Dark that people step around on the sidewalk,
The pavement curdling from the mere presence of me,
And you... you wrap your warm arms around me,
Dipping me in molten happiness and,
soon after, handing me a towel.
I am a vampire.
You are the sun.
I may shield myself from you, but it is only
because people have not been too careful with my
fragile, wallpaper skin.
But do not fret, my Sunshine.
I trust you to treat me well.
