I always see you walking down the hallways
And everything about you catches me:
Your bright smile lightens me up
   Your beautiful eyes captivate me
My day seems to lift up from the ashes
      Except…
I’m on the verge of drowning.

You always drag me around
Like I’m your little toy boat
It’s hard to float on my own,
especially with a gaping hole in me.

You’re the one keeping me from sinking.
Problems splash around, but never tips me over
Stress rages on, but never destroys me
   Nothing could ever stop me.

You’re like my guardian angel,
   but once you stop caring,
      I have no choice
         but
                to
                    drown.

The water floods my hull,
Sweeping and pulling everything out
All the feelings I once had,
   kind of just left.

I have nothing
And the emptiness fills me up.

Paranoia seeps into my body.
What if you forget about me?
             What if you stopped caring?

I don’t want to face the monsters.
   That would take me down.
I don’t want to be foraged
   By someone I don’t love.
I just want to stay afloat,
   Where you’re by my side
      And I’m by yours.

I just thought of a simply theme, about one sided love, and expanded the topic from there.
