Picture
A picture is worth a thousand words.
It wraps up an imagine and all its details
With only a click of a button.
Landscapes say it all.
They bird flying across the image,
Shows freedom to the photographer.
Even the shells on the beach
Show color and possibilities,
And even the roadblocks and pain.
The image creates a story.
Too badf those stories won’t be told,
Because not many people take that picture anymore.
Pictures now are just about themselves.
No sense of creativity is expressed in a selfie.
It’s just a portrait.
One that should be placed on your mothers mantle.
But that’s not even the case,
Because it’s only your face.
There’s no point in sending someone you see every day,
A picture of your face for them to see it again that day.
Food is different in that scenario.
Sure, you may call it artsy
But what it really is, is a self esteem dropper.
With a picture of your salad
Crowding up my news feed,
Makes me self conscious to what I’m eating.
That Starbucks cappuccino you just posted
Is only posted to silently brag.
Brag about how you just bought
An overpriced piece of crap.
Unless you’re being paid to sponsor them,
In that case,
kudos to you for taking the easy way out.
So thank you society.
Thank you for taking one of the few things I love
And squeezing all the beauty out of it.
That selfie over there,
300 likes on instagram.
My mountain top view of our city,
3 likes-and one of them is mine.
There are no more sunsets,
Or city lights
Traveling around my news feed.
The world wide trends are just pictures of
Someone’s hair,
Another person’s eyes,
That random guy’s abs,
And that perky little face
Smiling fakely into the camera.
