The Bear Cub
Cries for food follow
his return from the woods.
His desire for a simple meal
gains strength with each passing minute.
He searches the den--
Mother, nowhere in sight.
Loud screams and growls
rise from his deepening anger.
Outside the den snow
begins to kiss the ground.
His yelps and howls
falling with the flakes.
He grows tired--
falling
falling
falling
deep into hibernation.
