What is your response?
Three words:
Build a Wall.
Three more:
Make it Tall.
What is your response?
Do you hold a discussion,
hosted by Latinx students?
Do you host a peace rally,
where students declare "It Starts with Me!"
Do you hit reply-all on an email,
meant to establish one individual's position on an issue?
What is your response?
Do you stand in solidarity
with all your brothers and sisters from all backgrounds?
Do you try to explain right from wrong
on Facebook, Twitter, YikYak, and the like?
Do you offer assistance to students
who are or feel threatened by others on campus?
What is your response?
Can I do this? Can I walk the talk?
If this is my test, I feel I am failing.
What is my response?

This poem was a response to issues of hate and racism that surrounded my school campus in the last month of school. I hope that you may find something in here that resonates with you in this time of extreme hatred and xenophobia, and the confusion in how to best react to these issues.
