Depressed
The little girl sat with knees pressed against her chest
She was rather sad and lonely
There wasn’t another person near her
She was all alone in the corner
When she called out she was met with laughter
  Cold cruel laughter
  That was not her own
You aren’t worth anything, you know
  You really are useless
  But I’m not she replied
  I am worth a lot
A lot more than you realize
The cruel voices ceased for a moment
They didn’t know what to do
She had never lashed back before
She put her hands to her temples
  Stay out she told them
You are not voices of reason
You are the voices of doubt and loathing
They hissed as they had been named
  They couldn’t hold her anymore
She had broken their charm over her
She was no longer privy to their beck and call
She had beat the monsters inside
  She had told them no
  And they had listened
With her new freedom that she had garnered
She sat with a pencil perched between her fingers
  And she began to write
“The little girl sat with her knees pressed to her chest…”
