Hypothetically Nostalgic
  I wouldn’t say nostalgia
       A longing for the past
       A reaching, yearning, grabbing, stretching
       Of something across the vast
Changing, unending present
The endless possibilities
The maybe should and shouldn’t be’s
  Friends, perhaps, or enemies
That could have been
  If I’d gone there
  If I’d stayed here
  If I’d been bold
  If I’d…
All the possibilities
  That swim before me
  The separate me’s
  With other stories
  And different lives
  Their world is what drives
  Me
As, I look at them and wonder
  How
  Am
  I
  Here
Now
As I am
  I wouldn’t say despair
       There’s hope within me yet
A spark the threatens to go out
And as I lie here in regret
       I know that tomorrow
Holds a chance of something new
So I’ll try to see it through
