Emily Went to Tuscany
(Inspired by Walt Whitman’s and Emily Dickinson’s poetry)
Emily went to Tuscany, Thailand, and
Stockholm. Walt cracked
his dry fingers and dreamt of seeing the ocean.
Emily picked Saffron and White Truffles
from her teeth. Walt thought about tobacco
and his next meal. He closed his eyes.
Emily’s passport was heavy with stamps.
Walt’s dirt hair was brushed
for his funeral.
