Glasses Toast to Another Christmas Eve Dinner
The snow-covered drive leads to my navy blue house,
decorated festively with shimmering lights.
Music plays softly in the background.
The kitchen warms with croissants and cooked carrots in the oven.
Vibrant colored fruits and vegetables sit on the table.
Appetizers of slow cooked hot dogs and cheese platters tempt guests.
The champagne bottle POPs, as glasses toast to another Christmas Eve dinner.
The table welcomes guests with sparkly placemats in silver and gold.
The steak is trimmed and the turkey is cut.
Cut green beans cook in a warm casserole.
Full bellies keep room for dessert:
sugar cookies coated in whipped cream cheese frosting.
Mom and Dad end the night with warm hugs and wishes of a Merry Christmas,
toasting to another Christmas Eve dinner.
