Battle Scars

Off to battle I go
Just one more day to live
All the cries and moans
All for naught
All have scars
Scars they proudly hide
Showing they went to battle
And lived
They wanted to tell me to stop
The battle is over
The battle is done
But it has only just begun
Surely the scars are still there
Showing my battles
Showing that I'm done
Showing that I am broken
The battle rages on
It's all in my head
All that is left of the war
Are the battle scars
