I never thought i would write
To you, about you, for you
When things seem so clear

When both of us are accepting
The layers of masks
On each others’ faces.

I don’t like to put metaphors
In my diary.
On point, concise, straightforward
That’s how I tried to act
But metaphor is the only way
To truly express.
One more mask.

I don’t even know I can play chess
But the pawn
Never wishes to know the bigger picture.

Am I controlling the game
Or am I just a puppet of the king?
Sacrificing as many pieces as needed.
Even when it’s my favorite queen.

I don’t seek checkmates.
I don’t care about metaphors.
I need you back.
I need us back.
I need the us that wears no masquerade
That can stare into each other’s innermost thoughts
And not to be fearless, but to accept
To accept us as who we are.
