I don't know why,

But everytime I cry,

It seems like Mother Nature just knows,

And it shows

In the clouds.

My heart like thunder, beating so loud,

And I can't hear a thing

As my heart sings

In sorrow.

I wake up tommorow,

My eyes red and puffy,

My nose stuffy.

I wake up feeling okay,

But it doesn't last all day,

As I remember you're gone,

And it feels so wrong

Being here without you by me.

Can't you see

That it hurts,

This pain is the worst;

The pain of losing a best friend.

The pain hits when they meet their end,

And I can't help to think that

I should have had at

Least a little more time with you.

I know it's true

That you'll always be in my heart,

But it's tearing me apart

Piece by piece.

God stole our angel

From us, and I'm not able

To feel glad

That she's no longer in pain; I just feel sad.

My heart is broken

And I'm choking

On my hysterical sobbing.

My heart is throbbing

In pain

As I look on in vain,

Trying to find a sign

That you're still here; I act fine,

But I'm dying inside.

I tried to hide

My feelings

Under a mask, but the facade is peeling

Away.

I manage to live another day

Without you.

I don't want to

Admit it, but I loved you too much,

And now I'm in such

Pain,

Saying my final goodbye in the rain.

The author's comments:

This is in loving memory of my best friend. Her name was Cookie. She was a 14 1/2 year old Boston Terrier. She's been with me since I was 3. It was a huge loss, and I wanted to do something special to remember her by.
