Chains
Man is forever enslaved:
By sin, by death,
By desire, by guilt;
But the strongest chain is Love.
Love burdens my heart,
It guides my thoughts,
It binds me and I fall prey
To its numerous whims.
God is laughing at
The foolishness of a man in love,
For Love causes man to be a fool,
Indeed, to give up everything for its sake.
I desire something more,
Something eternal:
Love which finds no end,
A Love that won't betray.
For true Love frees
Rather than enslave.
True Love gives itself
Rather than exact pay.
This is the Love I search,
Truly, I have already found it:
A friend and an angel
The one my heart loves.
