A Dark Future
I now see why God was filling me with doubt,
For I was slowly drifting away from Him,
And wandering into that Perilous Land,
The unchartered territory of my demise.
For though I once hated their sinful practices,
I was suddenly drawn to them,
And though God protected me that happy night,
I walk on the border of an endless precipice.
For a strange desire now filled my heart,
To fit in with those around me,
Even if I must reject the principles that raised me,
And I was only a few seconds from falling into a Dark Future.
But that nagging doubt in my mind
Was the loving work of God,
And now I have returned to reason,
And I’m filled with gratitude for my Savior.
And thus I return to Thee,
Though I cannot tell You what might have transpired
If I had remained an hour longer
On that Saturday filled with joy and dread.
