It’s bright yellow smiles
With ripped seams of
Sunshine slipped in between
It’s warm arms that wrap
Around you to shield you from
The war outside your door
It’s the soft voice of patience
That offers you guidance in
Your mind’s absence
Love is not tear stained
Cheeks marked with
Red hand prints or
Blue bruises
Love is not spiteful words
Which are whispered
Into your ear
Every day
