Mortem
we are the dead
we are the bones grinding on the cement
the ancient flesh and blood of fossil fuels
powering the steam engines of mankind
the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse pulling plows to feed the masses hungry for oblivion
we are the dead
we resist until our heels spark on the asphalt
until we have torn away at the infrastructure
even if it means tearing away at ourselves.
we were the living
with wire tapped brain stems
and lungs that breathed for someone else
but we were alive.
we were the angry,
the tired,
the downtrodden,
just warmer.
