Where I am From
I am from sweaty basketball practices,
feet stomping up and down the court.
Teammates pushing each other and practicing everyday to gain a win.
From a musty grey house with a basketball court in the backyard,
working to achieve my goals of playing college basketball.
And deciding where to go to college and continue my basketball journey...
I am from a noisy household,
people sprinting and shouting “I need my sock!” “Where is my shoe?” and “We’re late!”
But cuddling up Sunday to watch the Packers play.
From blasting throwback Hannah Montana songs in the car like I was 10 years old again,
singing, smiling and dancing with my three best friends.
Making memories I know will last…
I am from a family that emphasizes love in the hardest of times,
and having friends that answer me on the first ring.
I smile when I wake up and my heart is full of joy because I am proud of where I am from.
