I'm from the woods and the fields behind my grandparents’ house and
from the wallpaper that changes monthly.
I'm from the lake and the fish bait my dad hung from my hook and
from the sodas he would sneak me.

I'm from campfires, smores, and trees I would climb and
from sweet,  innocent lies.
I’m from my mother's blood and my father’s last name and
from the fields where I play soccer without a worry.

I'm from 2000’s rap songs and watching the news and
from “if you don’t put the work and time in you'll never succeed.”
I'm from football sundays and the smell of morning coffee and
from the flutter in my chest when I feel like I can’t breath.

I'm from survival and the happiness of my family, for I have my siblings looking up to me and
from independence and knowing what's right and trusting in only myself and God.
I'm from the excited and adventurous feeling when I do daring things and
from the city where secrets lie and feelings emurge.

I'm from not being an typical girl and biting my tongue when something needs to be said and
I'm from the unresting, on-the-go lifestyle unlike people around here.
I'm from not a sheltered life, or a suburb life I am from the country but love the city and
I'm from a mix of feelings that most won't be able to understand.

I'm from the indescribable,the unpredictable, the restless and 
I'm from living in the moment and never looking back.
I'm from 3am talks far from here and meeting people and
