Tightropes
i’ve always wanted to walk
on the telephone lines
swinging from each
thin
rope of silver tinted copper
to the next
and on those tightropes in the sky
that cut the sad graying clouds
and bright green stalks of overgrown broccoli
in half
i would leap like a monkey
onto their only support
of decaying soft
wooden poles
