Two-Toned
  Amaranth, that’s what I am–
  my outward color… It’s unique!
But, with a bit of a need for explanation.
I’m somewhere between blushing and slipping on red lipstick,
  bright, vibrant, and vivacious.
On the inside, though, I’m phthalo blue–
it colors my my thoughts… just a bit sad.
Please, just be patient, for I will explain.
I’m stuck between navy jeans and 100-feet-into-the-ocean,
  cold, gentle, and remembering.
  In the end, I’m both–
  all at once… it’s overwhelming.
But, at least I know, and I do not have to explain.
I’m like flowers, toned brightly then deeply,
my confidence, my anxiety, and completely myself.
