Sparking and flashing
They illuminate the sky
With pure life and joy

It is July fourth
On the beach’s sand I stand
Alone unmoving

To gaze in reverence
At the beauty above me
As sparks dance and fly

Unspoken dreams soar
Fluttering just out of reach
Above my wide eyes

But even in dreams
Fear can find refuge and grow
From the darkness show

But I ignore fear
For my mind is strong and sharp
Can break the darkness

I reach for my dreams
For fear is an illusion
And the night is young

The author's comments:
This poem was written about a fear I had. I was trying to overcome it by visualizing what made me happy, I wanted to focus on something so that I could forget about my fears. And so I thought of fireworks since they prove that even the tiniest pin prick of light can illuminate a dark sky. Even a small bit of happiness can help one to overcome a fear. This thought helped.
