No fairytale

princess in tower
she’s imprisoned here, waiting
surrounded by walls
she sits in darkness
she looks towards window to breathe
she can’t break away
It’s no fairytale
she’s been here for years, living
without hope or love
golden hair falls dead when
she lets it down for one
who has locked her
The singing bird brings
something in his voice that keeps
her sane, after days
