addiction
I just saw that picture
your face says it all
I can see that its time
to be strong, and stand tall
looking back through the memories
and the moments that we’ve shared
did you ever really love me,
or was I wrong to think you cared?
I can see your expression
the glazed look in your eye,
takes me back to the day
when you left me to get high
you’re a slave to your addiction
and right now you can’t see
all the chances that you’re losing,
and the things you’ll never be
you say you have no problem,
that It’s not controlling you
but I have come to realize
nothing you say is true
you’ve let the drugs consume you
as anyone can see
but I’ve done something worse than that:
I let you consume me
so thank you for that picture
it opened up my eyes
and showed me just how wrong I was
ignoring all your lies.
I took longer than I should have,
but I’m setting myself free
and overcoming my addiction
to what we used to be
