Dear Friend
Dear friend,
I wanna know how you are,
cuz, you’re my friend, no matter how far apart we are,
and, did you know? I think about you quite a lot.
and, did you know? I remember sitting at our special hiding spot
you’re an amazing friend, it’s true;
and I wrote this song so I could thank you.
thank you for being my friend,
you’re someone who I’d always defend,
even if I don’t know where you are, I’ll be here till the end
oh, all these things are true,
do you remember when we sang “blue?”
at the campfire, we sang to our heart’s content,
we were finally living in the moment
and, do you remember? when I went to a party for you?
and, do you remember? as we talked about so many things and, just admired the view?
I hope you treasure all these things just as I have,
and I hope one day we cross each other’s path
I hope you’re doing good,
and I hope you remember that you deserve the world,
and even though we don’t talk every day,
I hope you know I still love you all the same
thank you for helping me choose out my camp name,
you made my time at camp special, I hope I could make you feel the same
reach for the stars my dear,
you’ll be good at any career.
if you ever need anything let me know,
I’ll be here even as we grow

After I left camp, I missed all my friends so much. Most especially, my friend hummingbird. She didn't have a phone number, so I couldn't contact her. This song was originally called "Dear Hummingbird" but I changed it since there were a lot of people throughout the years whom I miss dearly. This song isn't just about one friend, it's about so, so many. Each and every single person who inspired these lines mean the world to me, and I hope they can finally see it. While we may not talk every day or live close to each other, I love them all the same.
