Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thurman

I’m sorry I couldn’t be there
I missed a lot in your life
The years have gone by so quickly
And now you’re passing by
I’m sorry I couldn’t stay with you
To help you fight the pain
I really wanted to stay and hold your hand but they took me away

I blamed it on the distance
But I could have forced them to let me stay
I blamed it on my parents
For making our family move six hours away

And I regret not ever telling you how much you meant to me
How you were like my second mother
And the time we spent I will cherish forever

And I learned family truly matters, above all
Because they are always there for you
Like when you were always by my side

But when I was I by your side?
Surely not when you were sick, when you needed me the most

If I could change the past I would try it all again
I would move by you visit everyday

Before you got sick life made since
But I can’t change the past
I can only learn from my mistakes

I’m scared
These memories won’t last,
And I’m sitting where you last sat,
Tears flooding though my eyes,
Trying to figure this world out,
Wondering why you had to die.

I never even got to say goodbye
And there is a hole in my heart I cant describe

I’m sorry I couldn’t be there
I missed a lot in your life
The years went by so quickly
I was in denial, I thought you’d never die
I’m sorry I couldn’t stay with you
To help you fight the pain
I really wanted to stay and hold your hand but they took me away

This piece was inspired by my Grandma, who I loved very much. It was hard letting her go. Keep the ones you love close and always remember to tell someone you love them before it's too late.
