Belonging
It’s what I want
 But I won’t get it

 What I need
I try not to fret it

It’s so hard ‘cause the other ones are there…

 My heart constricts
 I fill with longing

 To fit in
 To start belonging

 To that untouchable world…

 Where everyone knows their name
They know how to play their game

 But the hardest thing
 That promise ring

So no matter how many times they mess up
Or how many times it takes to get the right cut

 They’ll always be there
 And I’ll be; where?

 Stuck in a corner
 “Oh, just ignore her

Yeah, she’s one in a million
The one that won’t fit in

 Just shut the door
Don’t let her take the floor

She don’t got what it takes
 She doesn’t have what makes

 A star
 She won’t go far”

 But my heart still constricts
 And I fill with longing

 To fit in
 To start belonging

Or at least to be recognized
 To see in people’s eyes

That they know who I am
 Know where I stand
Know where I stay my hand

I want them to know me for me
 I wanna be

 Lifted above the crowd
I want to hear my name cried out loud

For my heart to – burst from love
To be seen from high above

 That’s why

 My heart constricts
 I fill with longing

 To fit in
 To start belonging

 But then
 I come down to Earth

 And I see
 My humble hearth

 And open my eyes
Drink in the bright gray skies

 And dream

 My heart constricts
 I fill with longing

 To fit in
 To start belonging

Now that you mention it, fret does seem like an odd word choice...but I'm not sure what I would use instead...
Thank you so much for commenting on TEN pieces! o.O You sure have patience...
