From the Inside Out
Nobody tried to read
the other half of the story.
They never saw beneath
a smile so hard to ignore.
The rains pouring down, inside,
but it's caught by a silver lining.
The suns all they see, it shines,
and spreads the warmth to the world.
Her sunbeam casts a shadow,
but it's covered up by laughter.
She's like a blooming meadow,
no one sees the fire after.
CHORUS
She's wearin' her heart on her sleeve,
but it's her soul that keeps beneath.
She goes through everyday,
keepin' a smile on her face;
forgetting what cannot be undone.
They never guessed,
that she'd be the one.
To be wilting from the inside out.
Secrets that scar the road,
are not so easily mended.
They leave behind scars that burn,
and show what's left untold.
"But the world still spins," she says,
as her story's silently falling.
And they're only words, actress,
but all believe them at heart.
She's skipping down the old street,
wears a tu-tu and ballet flats.
They smile at her cold feet,
and she smiles right back and laughs.
CHORUS
They never guessed,
that she'd be the one,
to be wilting from the inside out.
