It's not about success; it's about significance.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Verse One:
There once was a time when I was lost and alone
I needed someone at my side, a friend of my own
Every night in my bed, I would lie down and cry
I just didn’t seem to have the wings in me to fly

Then there came the night when my mama took my hand

And she said to me, “Honey, please try to understand:

All hope may seem lost, but these things will change
'cause everything finds a way of falling into place”

Pre-Chorus:
I don’t know how it happened so suddenly
But you came over and bumped right into me
It was meant to be
I see you were the answer to my every plea

Chorus:
In year one, you dried my tears away
My wounds from the past disappeared in a flash
And I knew that you were here to stay
In year four, we left it all on the line
No one accepted the way we were feeling
And we only parted for a time
In year eight we fell hard together
We became one; the friendship process was done
I was sure that you were my forever
But then came year nine
The year I would no longer call you mine
But I’m glad that we lasted for such a long time
We may no longer have each other
But now, 9 will forever be my lucky number

Verse Two:
You loved me for a time, but it seems so long ago
Now I know it’s time for me to try to let you go
I watch you walk away; you’re leaving me behind
And as the teardrops fall down, my heart’s breaking inside

Pre-Chorus:
I don’t know why you’re doing this to me
‘Cause you know, I never wanted you to leave
But it was meant to be
At least I still have the beautiful memories

Bridge:
Baby, knowing that you hurt me is my only regret
This sheer devastation is something I won’t ever forget
But I’ll always remember the times that you made me smile
And that should get me through this plague even if it hurts for a while

Chorus:
‘Cause in year one, you dried my tears away
My wounds from the past disappeared in a flash
And I knew that you were here to stay
In year four, we left it all on the line
No one accepted the way we were feeling
And we only parted for a time
In year eight we fell hard together
We became one; the friendship process was done
I was sure that you were my forever
But then came year nine
The year I would no longer call you mine
But I’m glad that we lasted for such a long time
We may no longer have each other
But now, 9 will forever be my lucky number

Yeah, 9 will forever be my lucky number

The author's comments:
This song is basically about me and my first love. It tells the story of how we met, how our friendship progressed throughout the years and eventually turned into a first relationship, and finally how it ended. It's about still loving him even after what he did to me. I was still new to song-writing back in eighth grade when I wrote this--it was actually my first song ever--so I apologize if the lyrics are a little rough and/or cheesy.

Aw, thanks. You're really sweet, but I think you're a great writer too. :) I'd like to read more of your work if you could submit it.
