You’ve built my heart,
Cried when they wouldn’t,

Reconstructed, reconvened,
Reinvented, puzzled, schemed,

But I’ll look at that broken sky,
And see the cracks that let me fly,
I’ll use what wasn’t pressed apart,
I’ll use my head, instead of my heart.

As a puppet,
You’ve tied my arms,
Imprisoned me,
Inside your charm,
And bought my tears, and shaped my mask,
Assigned me to my household tasks,

But I’ll smile at your cold embrace,
And hope to change your twisted face,
And I’ll still fill those dusty shelves,
With the secrets I haven’t told myself.

Inside my spirit,

Upholstered slate,
As was your soul,
And dragged me down, and broke my wings,
Spread your disease, through diamond ring,

But I’ll look at my blackened stare,
And see the hope that once was there,
And though my wings are still pinned down,
