Cycle of Revenge
Hands tied to the cross
The world cries at its loss
Blood pours on the earth
Exposed we shelter first
Agony sears the sky
As another one dies
Sacrifice for our sin
Let the saving begin
The town’s a covered red mask
They know that this is the last
Hour for them
Vengeance hangs on a limb
Outside the city’s great walls
Lies a brother with calls
Of fury and pain
They’ll never get away
Silence blankets the night
Soldiers sleep with open eyes
And with the sun they arise
And with the sun they will strike
A legion floods out to greet them
With cold steel they meet them
The lost hero scans them
And then he
Finds the one that leads
He aims to make him bleed
A pierce through the heart
The leader gives a start and he
Falls through the dirt
His last seconds of hurt
He pulls the man down
And then he whispers real loud
“You’re just like me”
Hands tied to the cross
The world cries at its loss
Blood pours on the earth
Exposed we shelter first
Agony sears the sky
As another one dies
Sacrifice for our sin
Let the saving begin
The killer swelled with pride
As the leader had died
A war for vengeance exchanged
A small price to pay
But still with disgust in his heart
His control fell apart
And he unleashed frustration
Upon the enemy’s men
And he danced out with fierce strides
The look of murder in his eyes
Until he laid gaze on the sight
His veins turned to sheer ice
That pale body crucified
Was not the first one to die
It was hardly different and looked
Like the life he just took
He stumbled down in a daze
His arm fell and dropped its blade
A young innocent showed himself
And then he went into a yell
“You take the life of my father
I’ll steal away all your honor”
And down swung his blade
While the hero’s thoughts played
Hands tied to the cross
The world cries at its loss
Blood pours on the earth
Exposed we shelter first
Agony sears the sky
As another one dies
Sacrifice for our sin
Let the saving begin
Revenge had gotten him
Nothing but more revenge
And now he became the dead
As the dead serviced him
But before he left
And that steel hit his neck
He looked that boy in the eyes and
His heart filled with dread
He managed to let out his lips
The words that had possessed him
He mumbled with no great ease:
“You’re just like me”
The boy ignored his words
Nothing pleasured him more
Than the sound of a murderer’s breath
Fading ‘till there’s nothing left
The battle was receding around him
He completely ignored them
As he pulled the man on the ground
To the brother he had found
Together they were bound again
Never to live again
All around them
The crowd looked over at them
Hands tied to the cross
The world cries at its loss
Blood pours on the earth
Exposed we shelter first
Agony sears the sky
As another one dies
Sacrifice for our sin
Let the saving begin
