my country
My country is like a tree
Always growing with new possibilities
The roots grow strong and bind forever
Nothing can bring us down but never say never
New inhabitants make their marks
Like the little old sky larks
Who sing and sing and sing all day
But watch out when they decide to play
When all is lost and they’ve come to cut you down
I will not cry I will not frown
For I will always sit aloft high in my tree
Because this country will never let go of me
