Fighting
Everyday is like a game I keep on losing
Don’t know why I’m looking or what I’m choosing
Bad decisions, as the path ahead grows dark
As I drift further and further from where I set my mark
And I don’t think that the lord can save me now
Don’t think that your light can show me how
Because you know that I can’t take it anymore
I’ve forgotten what it is I’m fighting for
It all turns to grey
As I turn to pray
But it’s a battle that I’m losing every day
No, just can’t take it anymore
You always pull away from fights without a scratch
Yet everyday I feel like I’ve met my match
And each day my conscience pulls itself apart
As I’m getting closer every day back to where I start
And I’m losing sight of where I marked my way
Know that I can’t ask you to stay
Because you know that I can’t take it anymore
I’ve forgotten what it is I’m fighting for
It all turns to grey
As I turn to pray
But it’s a battle that I’m losing every day
No, just can’t take it anymore
You say that one day this battle will be won
The sun will rise and the fighting will be done
And so I throw my hands into the sky to pray
The nights grow short as I wait for the day
For the day when I can shake this pain away
When I remember all the words I want to say
The grey fades away
As I start to say
That now the years of fighting are all done
Thank God that this battle has been won
We’ve won
